favorite grocery apps!

9:35 AM

As soon as Jake and I started our venture with The Total Money Makeover, I researched some apps that I could use to help out with our grocery shopping. I had heard of some apps that give you money back by just scanning your receipt so I thought I'd give it a try. Here are four apps that I have used for the past couple of months and so far have been able to make over $60! Now of course these aren't "get rich quick" apps but it sure helps bring our grocery bill down.

This app is probably one of my favorite and has gotten me the most money so far. They make it really fun by having bonuses you can unlock which gives you more money. You can also put together a team which allows you to help each other earn more money by buying things you would already buy. Some of the grocery apps out there make you want to buy expensive brands because of the rebate you get, but one reason I love this app is they always have "any brand" rebates. Here are just a couple of ones that I have used.
Not only do they have rebates for grocery shopping but they sometimes have rebates for eating out at restaurants, clothing stores, beauty stores such as Sephora and Ulta, electronic stores, home improvement stores, craft stores, and online purchases such as Amazon. You just have to look and see what rebates are there in the different categories and see if that's something that's already on your list to get!

Now Flipp isn't an app that makes you money but I like to use it in conjunction with my Walmart app which we will talk about next. I still like to go through all the adds in the newspaper and price match before I go grocery shopping. That alone has saved us a ton of money. Flipp allows you to have all of those weekly ads right there on your phone! It's so easy to scroll through, clip coupons, and match prices. You can also make your grocery list on the app and it will pull up all the prices/coupons for that particular item.

If you don't want to take the time to price match then use Walmart's Saving Catcher. It does it for you! Basically you scan your Walmart receipt and they go through and price match any local competitor's printed ads. If they find a lower price they give it to you in an eGift card. I've gotten at least $30 back from using this app.

Checkout51 is like ibotta where you get rebates for things you shop for. I definitely don't get as much money with this one but hey every little bit counts. They always have a rebate for buying certain fruits and vegetables which I buy every week so that little rebate adds up over time.

Which apps do you use to save money?
