Benefits of lemon water

Holy cow guys! I had no idea there were so many benefits from drinking lemon water. I just thought it was nice and refreshing! I've been doing some research for some questions I have had about drinking lemon water so I thought I would write them down here for you! 

Why drink warm lemon water vs cold vs hot?

-From what I've read, it's best to have it warm/room temperature. Not too hot or cold. If it's too cold it may provide a shock or stress factor to your body. No body wants that when they first wake up. If it's too hot, it may destroy/hinder some of the enzymatic properties it has which helps with digestion.


It's best when you drink it first in the morning on an empty stomach. Why?

-It gets our digestive system off to a great start which also will help with weight loss.
-Your body has just gone 7-8 hours with out any water...why not give it something right away to get things going?
-For me I've noticed that it gives me a little boost of energy which can help me tackle the kids for the morning and do it being alert and happy instead of that "still trying to wake up" mode!

Real lemons vs bottled lemon juice vs lemon essential oil.

-Okay so this is how I would rate these. 
1. Lemon essential oil.
2. Real lemons.
3. Bottled lemon juice.

-Now some of you might argue with me about ingesting essential oils and that's okay. Do your research! Use real lemons if you don't have essential oils. Bottled lemon juice is not your best choice because it may have additives like citric acid, sugar and water in it. It's best to have the real thing. Even better (and easier I might add) is to use therapeutic grade lemon essential oil. It takes around 3,000 lemons to produce 1 kilo of oil! That's crazy to me!
-All I do in the morning is add a couple of drops of lemon essential oil to my warm water, swirl it around with my finger and then drink away. I'm all about easy!


-If you are using real lemons use this guideline for how much to use: If you weigh less than 150 lbs, squeeze half a fresh lemon into 8-12 ounces of water. If you weigh over 150 you could drink the same amount twice a day, or squeeze a whole lemon into 24-32 ounces of water.

I started drinking warm lemon water in the morning religiously over a month ago and I can already tell the difference it is making. So if you haven't started drinking lemon water, go out and buy some lemons or essential oil and add it to your morning routine! I only talked about a few of the benefits! There are a ton more!
